In honor of Halloween, the Capital Area District Libraries have teamed up with Lost Highway’s B-movies and Cult films to hold a scary movie screening at the Downtown Lansing branch. The movie? 1976’s Food of the Gods!
This event is free, and begins at 2:00 PM. While the film is rated PG, it does feature some rather scary mutant rats attacking folks, so keep that in mind before bringing along the little ones. And by ‘mutant rats’ I mean mutant rat puppets. Yep, no computer special effects here. The shining moments of the film are when real rats are shown attacking model houses and vehicles. Cinematic gold!
Lost Highway is a website devoted to writing satirical reviews of b-movies and cult films—and I am one of the writers (under the name Tiger Sixon–I even have a Food of the Gods review). Steve Jencks, aka Barry Goodall, the editor-in-chief will join me in hosting the film.
Steve hopes to do more events in the future, so please come by and help make our first Lost Movie Event a success! There is even a Facebook event page, if you are into that sort of thing.
